ICOE undertakes formal LLN assessment for students who are completing a qualification. 

 

Short course students are required to self-assess their LLN levels against the criteria provided here.

The criteria requires:

• Students are able to converse in English to take part in the scenarios in class.

• Specifically, they need to be able to

  • Read information from a PowerPoint and whiteboard

  • Listen and understand verbal information delivered by an English-speaking trainer

  • Read and answer a multiple-choice question paper

  • Read and answer a short-written answer test

  • Be able to count to 30

  • Complete simple measurements

 

Students are advised that if they are not confident of their LLN abilities we strongly recommend that they contact us personally prior to the commencement of the course to discuss the appropriateness of the course for them.
